Christmas 2011

Our last Christmas as a family of three was perfect! Because I'm 36 weeks I can't travel, so everyone came to us. We hosted Christmas dinner for 14 people. Everything went so smoothly, thanks to Tripp!
Nathan and I made sugar cookies
Nathan was a pretty good boy, so Santa was good to him!
Nathan received his first bb gun.
Nathan and his gift from Keaton. :)
And here we are (looking rather scrappy), but we survived our last Christmas as a family of 3

It was such a wonderful day spending time with both of our families. Christmas night I sat on the couch just looking around at all the Legos and toys Nathan received, I was overcome with emotion.  We are so blessed to have so many wonderful people in our lives that love our boy so much. God has truly blessed us.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!

35 weeks!

I keep meaning to update the blog more often, but now that Nathan is on Christmas break I want to spend as much time as possible with him. It's hard to believe that very soon we will be going from a family of three to a family of four!

Size: According to The Bump.com, "she's about 17.2 to 18.7 inches. From here on out, she won't get much longer, but she's plumping up. She's now about 4.2 to 5.8 pounds, and she'll put on a pound or more of baby fat before birth.

Gender: It's a girl!

Name: Keaton Leslie Ann Watts

Weight: 8 lbs total (finally).

Clothes: I'm barely squeezing in anything. Even my maternity shirts are too short!

Cravings: Nothing really

Sleep: Ha! What's that?? Between getting up to potty multiple times and baby girl deciding to have a dance party in my tummy, sleep is hard to come by these days!

Movements: It's less kicking and more rolling now. Sometimes my stomach looks like a wave pool, I believe she is finally running out of room!

Our Feelings: It's hard to believe that our girl could make an appearance any time now. (Though we want her to cook as long as possible). Nathan is so excited and I love to see his face light up when he talks about being a big brother. I feel so blessed!

In other news a date for our shower has been set and we are so excited to celebrate our little blessing. I also got my early Christmas present today from Tripp, the travel system that I had really wanted! We picked out the Chicco Cortina Travel System.    I just love the pink and green girly goodness of it!
Now we just have to wait for our little girl!

Last card as a family of three

So I finally just ordered our Christmas cards. I found myself getting somewhat misty eyed when I realized that this will be the last year Nathan is the star of the card. Next year we will have two beautiful kiddos featured on our holiday greeting.
Nathan and I had an impromptu photo shoot after school last week and it was such a fun time. We're trying to get as much solo time with our boy while we can! I can assure I'm treasuring every moment!
Here are some pictures I took of the kiddo last week!

I can't believe how much he has grown and matured. He is so excited about becoming a big brother and I know that he is going to be amazing!

It's been awhile...

So it's been a bit awhile since I last updated my blog.  A lot of things have happened since my last entry...
  • Nathan started first grade and is loving it! (Perhaps a little too much, he often get's in trouble for talking.)
  • I know I never mentioned this, but Tripp had been working out of town since March. We would only see each other on the weekends, but it was tough on all of us. We found out that Tripp will be back working closer to home, as of tomorrow!
  • We also have been busy moving into our new house!
  •  Thank goodness we've moved into a new house, because we need more space. Why you may ask....well this picture might have something to do with it....
That's right Nathan's going to be a big brother! We will be adding another member (a baby girl!!!) to our little family in January.  We are all over the moon!

What we've been up to...

So, long time no blog.  We've been enjoying our summer thus far.  We have been staying busy!

We've had t-ball games,

a "Rain Gutter Regata",

celebrated the last day of Kindergarten,
went to the kid's fishing derby at the lake (we caught zero fish, but we had tons of fun!),
and this is where we slept this past weekend. Nathan had his first tiger cub camp out and I survived! ;)

Now back to enjoying this great summer evening! :)

A weekend that will go in the books!

This past weekend has been an AMAZING weekend and one that will be remembered by many, many people.

I was born to be a royal watcher. Before I ever made it into this world, my mother had already planned my nursery to somewhat mirror that of Price William's. Complete with blue gingham and loads of Beatrix Potter. I remember as a toddler I would pour over my mother's copy of "Born to be King, Prince William of Wales".
So needless to say I spent most of my younger days dreaming of living in England frolicking with William.  All throughout high school and college... I was the girl who was in loved with Prince William.  When other girls decorated their notebooks and lockers with pictures of The Backstreet Boys, NSYNC, or Leonard DiCaprio...mine were plastered with pictures of William and Harry.
I remember waking up in the wee hours of the morning for Princess Diana's funeral and crying along with the rest of the world as we watched William and Harry walk behind their mother's coffin to West Minister.  But on April 29,14 years after that dreaded walk, we watched William and Harry make a much happier journey to the Abbey.

It was the type of day fairy tales are made of. A normal girl with working class parents, emerges from a church a real princess. Needless to say I cried, in fact I bawled my eyes out.  Not only was it a beautiful wedding, but in a way it marked the end of my youth.  I spent so much up of my youth soaking up every bit of information I could find on William (in case I was ever to marry him), that it almost felt like an ex boyfriend was getting married, ha! ;)

I could go on and on about the royal wedding and THAT DRESS and how much England is my favorite place in the world and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE British history...BUT there was other big news in the world!

Easter!

We had such a wonderful weekend celebrating the resurrection of our Lord! It was also  our first "official" Easter as a little family!

Nathan made bird's nest for our Easter dinner.
Nathan with his goodies from the Easter Bunny!
My two handsome men!

We also hosted Easter dinner at our home and had Tripp's parents over.  It was the first holiday meal we had ever cooked.  We made a wonderful bourbon glazed ham, I will have to share the recipe. (It's also in April's Southern Living).
We had a wonderful Easter and we hope y'all did too!

Our Weekend

Whew! What a busy weekend! Friday after I came out of school (I was subbing that day) I went out to the parking lot where I found out I had a flat! :( Thank goodness Tripp was in town picking up Nathan from his school so he could come rescue me! Unfortunately my spare was flat, so we had to go get air in it! We had had plans to make the two hour drive to my parent's house right after school, I wanted to get home so I could spend the last few hours of my birthday with my parents.  Needless to say I was a little stressed, not only was I stressed about getting to my parents on time, but I realized that I am now only 2 years from being 30 and I'm still unemployed. I was a blubbering mess! Ha! I then had to take a minute to remind myself that God has a plan for me and that everything will work out when it is supposed to!   Friday ended up being a great evening spent with my wonderful family!
Saturday we decided to walk to town, to get a bite of terrible greasy goodness (our town's festival, was going on this weekend too!)
Today we had to hurry back home so Nathan could go to our church's Easter egg hunt! He had so much fun!

 Nathan decorating his bag.

Now Nathan is asleep, I'm trying to get us all ready for the upcoming week, and Tripp just came in from working outside. I'm so blessed to have such a wonderful family.  My life may not be going the way I imagined it ten years ago, but when I really think about it, it's actually a million times better!

Hope y'all had a great weekend too! :)

Weekend Wrap Up

This weekend really flew by.  We were super excited to have my brother come stay with us Saturday night, we hadn't seen him since he has been back from Italy and Germany! Nathan loved having his Uncle "Wii-A" up for the night!
Saturday night we took Wii-A out to eat, Nathan was more than happy to sit by him! :)

I really hate that this weekend seemed to fly by, but we were glad we all got to spend time together!

Bethenny's Happy Accident Chicken

Y'all I just made the best chicken for dinner and just had to share it, Bethenny's Happy Accident Chicken.  It's the bomb dot com that is for sure.  The best part is that I had everything in my fridge AND it's pretty healthy!
INGREDIENTS
  • 2 large skinless boneless chicken breasts, skin-on bone-in chicken breasts, or cutlets -- use what you have.
  • 1 7-ounce small container low-fat Greek yogurt
  • 1.5 tablespoon fresh lemon juice or bottled lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoon Tabasco sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • Nonstick spray
PREPARATION
  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Poke chicken everywhere with a fork.
  3. Mix yogurt, mustard, lemon juice, Tabasco sauce, salt, and pepper.
  4. Marinate the chicken in the mixture for at least 4 hours. The longer the chicken marinates, the more flavor it will have, so marinating overnight is recommended.
  5. Spray a barbecue or grill pan with nonstick spray and grill over high heat until charred, then flip.
  6. To prevent setting off your fire alarm, finish in a 350 degree oven for 5 to 10 more minutes.
  7. Sprinkle with fresh parsley. (If you have it, use it. I didn't)
*I was afraid that the Tabasco might make the recipe a little too spicy for Nathan, so I substituted Worcestershire sauce and only added a dash of Tabasco.  I also added some garlic powder!

This recipe was so yummy and I will be making it again...soon! I hope y'all enjoy it too!

~Picture and recipe are from Bethenny Frankel's website and can be found here.

Bon Appetite Y'all!

FINAL FOUR!

Tonight in our house we are all smiles and slightly hoarse, because Kentucky is headed to the....

It's the first time since 1998 that we have been to the Final Four, we also won that year and earned the name "Comeback Cats".

This weekend Nathan and I also headed into Lexington to Joseph Beth to see one of his favorite authors, George Ella Lyon. She read two stories, "The Pirate of Kindergarten" and her newest book "All the Water in the World".  Nathan also made a pirate hat!

He was the "Pirate of Firetrucks". ;)

Hope y'all have had a good weekend!
We sure have!

Go BIG Blue!
(btw I fixed the crooked pic on the wall after seeing this picture) ;)

New blog discovery and Family Fun Friday

Perhaps I have been living under a rock, but I stumbled across this blog yesterday. Have y'all seen it?!? I was searching for some healthy/weight watchers friendly recipes, when I came across "Gina's Skinny Recipes".
We made her Shrimp Fajitas last night and Nathan couldn't eat his fast enough. They were perfect and only 8 ww points per serving. We made this, because Tripp was out of town and we can't have shellfish when he is home. It was a nice treat and I will be checking the site frequently for more tasty recipes!

Family Fun Friday is consisting of
1.) Tickle fests
2.) Buffalo Wild Wings
3.) And now we are curled up watching "Dispicable Me".

Later we will be gathered around the TV in our blue and white and cheering for our beloved CATS and hoping that they beat OSU!

C-A-T-S, CATS, CATS, CATS!

A good day!

Have y'all ever had one of those great days when you didn't do anything out of the ordinary or spectacular, yet for some reason you know it will be one of those days that stays with you?
Our Sunday was great!
1.) Got up and made to Peanut Butter Pies (one for Tripp's grandmother and the other for us).
2.) Spring cleaned the front porch, swept away all the dead leaves, scrubbed, and set out new flowers.
3.)Planted lettuce in our garden.

4.) Watched Nathan and Tripp play in the dirt (as messy as it is it just warms my heart!)
 5.) Got our taxes done.
'6.) Went to Wally World and got all the materials needed to transplant our herbs.
7.) Finished the day grilling out and eating on the front porch!
Hope y'all had as good of a weekend as we did! :)

Oh and in case anyone wanted the peanut butter pie recipe....
(Recipe is from the "Blue Willow Inn" cookbook!)

March Maddness

This past week Tripp had to work out of town...again. "Mom Mom" didn't come to stay with us and somehow managed to survive. ;)  Since Tripp has been home we haven't left him alone (though I think he is trying to stay away from me, because I've got the cruppy crud, and I have lost my voice.)
I'm pretty sure if it wasn't the crud that caused me to loose my voice all these AMAZING basketball games would have!  The college in our town pulled an amazing win over Louisville (though they lost today), our local high school was in the state championship (they lost when the other team made a 3 point shot at the last second in double overtime), my alma mater advanced to the final four of the NAIA championship, and UK won!
Nathan showing his support for the Eagles!

Well the beds calling my name. Sorry for such a short post, but I will attempt to post more frequently! :)
Night y'all!

Bachelor: Women Tell All

Phew, Bachelor talk has been filling up twitter tonight!  I sometimes wish the would skip the "Women Tell All" episode and go straight to the who gets the ring and who goes home.
I kept waiting for someone to bring up Michelle's acting career on the show.  I just couldn't buy the whole "poor pitiful me" act, though I did find it interesting that people who didn't even stay on the show for more than a couple episodes had to be the loudest in stating their opinion (i.e. Stacey).
I'm really wondering if Ashley H. is the new Bachelorette.  What do y'all think?
All I know is that Brad better give Emily that ring, or he's crazy!

The week in review and a winner!

This past week was a little rough on all of us. Tripp had to go out of town to work for the week (it was the longest we've been apart since we've been married). Luckily my mom was to the rescue. She came and spent four days with Nathan and I.  She not only kept us company, but she also cleaned our house (I would like to say that we cleaned our house, but I don't want to lie to you dear bloggers).  After we put Nathan to bed we would set up and watch House Hunters and House Hunters International with a glasses of white zin. It was so nice to have qt with my momma, though we missed Tripp terribly. This week was also "Dr. Seuss Week" at Nathan's school, each day he got to wear something special.
Monday was crazy hat day.
Tuesday was silly sock day. (I made him one fish, two fish socks)
Wednesday was wacky (it was also Dr. Seuss' b-day).

On Friday we bid farewell to my momma and said hello to Tripp (needless to say I was experiencing both happy and sad).  I'm so thankful that Nathan and I only had to spend one night at the house by ourselves. :) Friday night we decided to curl up and watch "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe", Nathan had never seen it and he was really loving it, till he feel asleep.
(I loved looking over and seeing them curled up)
Saturday we had a nice lazy day we planted our tomatoes and peppers and just spent the day being lazy.
Today we spent half the day in our jammies, curled up drinking numerous cups of coffee and just enjoying the three of us being together.

And now for the WINNER of our first giveaway...
Stephanie from Kindergarten Dress up!
Congratulations Stephanie, please email your address and information so I can pass it on to Jerramy!

Back from a blogging break

The reason for the blogging break is that I have been subbing practically everyday, I love getting back into the grind of teaching (but I miss having my own classroom). In fact I find myself pouring over teacher blogs in hopes of gaining ideas for any future classes I may teach. Let me just say I have found a BUNCH of great ideas!

Today was the beginning of Read Across America week at Nathan's school.
Today was "hat's off to reading" (AKA wear a crazy hat), here was Nathan's choice! ;)

Tomorrow Nathan is supposed to wear crazy socks, which I need to go make right about now....

Our First Giveaway!!!

Y'all I'm so excited that we are hosting our first giveaway!
And now for the prize...
If you win the drawing you will win this wonderful book by Jerramy Fine. I am so excited that Jerramy is giving us a copy for one of our lucky winners!

A little bit about Jerramy (from her website)-
Born in 1977, Jerramy Sage Fine grew up in Western Colorado along with her little brother Ezra. Although she was raised by crazy hippy parents, she still maintains there was a dreadful hospital mix-up and she was switched at birth with the baby daughter of English aristocrats. Jerramy attended the University of Rochester where she spent her semester abroad working in the House of Commons, and later completed her master’s at the London School of Economics. She now lives in London with her English boyfriend. He’s not royal, but she forgives him.

About the book-

(From Publishers Weekly)Many little girls dream of becoming a princess and finding their Prince Charming. Fine was no different and, at the age of six, traced the Windsor family tree to Peter Phillips, an English royal of her same age, and announced she would marry him. Unlike other girls, however, this dream did not fade away with adolescence. With a story line akin to a chick lit novel, her memoir follows her single-minded path to become suitable wife material for a prince, to move to England and to be swept away in a royal romance. Born to hippie parents in rural Colorado, Fine comes of age feeling out of place and escapes to the East Coast for college and then to graduate school in London. There she ingratiates herself into English social circles, eventually rubbing shoulders with Princess Anne, the Duchess of York and others. Amid her lessons in British society and the universal woes of dating, she also gains the important knowledge that the strength of one's conviction can be the strongest predictor of one's fate. Provided the reader doesn't grimace to see her determination, intelligence and grace used to pursue a man she's never met, Fine's is a charming and humorous story.

Being a fan of the British monarchy I knew I had to get this book as soon as I saw it! I also learned that Jerramy and I had something else in common, (besides our love for British monarchy) she is a Delta Gamma too!
